Divakar Shenoy, an 8th grader from Memorial Middle School, finishes fourth in Scripps Regional Spelling Bee

This weekend, Houston Community College hosted the Scripps Regional Spelling Bee, which included 62 participants from public, private, charter, and homeschool backgrounds who met eligibility requirements.

Divakar Shenoy, an 8th grader from Memorial Middle School, finished fourth, narrowly missing the opportunity to compete in the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C.

The top three spellers will advance to the national competition with airfare and lodging expenses covered for the speller and one parent by the regional bee. Congratulations to Shenoy for his hard work and dedication.

We are #SBISDProud of your achievement.
