The sole purpose of the instruction is to educate students, staff, and parents on the effects these factors have on a student's mental health. “Screenagers Under the Influence: Addressing Vaping, Drugs and Alcohol in the Digital Age” will impact the increased usage of substance use, increasing awareness, and fostering digital literacy. Screenagers sole purpose is to educate students, staff, and parents on the impact of social media. Within a 50-minute film, “Screenagers Under the Influence” will build capacity on the impact social media has on children’s mental health. This viewing will allow staff the opportunity to offer first line defense in supporting and enhancing their response to children and adolescents as it relates to substance concerns. MMS students will receive this training through their Activity class on October 28th unless the parent chooses to “opt out” by returning the required form.
